Today, Friday, 7th March, marks Employee Appreciation Day, a moment to celebrate the dedication and impact of employees across all industries.
At Tarem Services, we believe appreciation should be ongoing, not occasional. As a social enterprise, we are committed to paying the Living Wage, fostering professional growth, and ensuring every employee feels valued.
How We Celebrate & Support Our Employees
Some of the ways we recognise and support our team include:
- Employee of the Month – Recognising outstanding contributions with a small token of appreciation (a gift card).
- We champion the Living Wage – Ensuring fair pay and a supportive work environment for all employees.
- Employee Share Ownership – We believe that success should be shared, which is why our employees have the opportunity to own shares in the company, giving them a real stake in the business.
- Ongoing Employee Spotlights – Showcasing the dedication and long-term contributions of our team.
Welcome Back, Yabom!
This week, we also want to acknowledge Yabom, a valued team member who recently returned to work after some time away.
Her commitment to building strong client relationships has played a key role in our service delivery. We welcomed her back with a small token of appreciation – a reminder that every team member matters.
Spotlight On Our Team Throughout March
As part of our commitment to employee recognition, we’ll be highlighting some of our incredible team members this month:
📌 Next week: Meet our new Head of Operations, already making a big impact.
📌 Following week: A team member celebrating 22 years – a testament to loyalty and growth.
📌 Later this month: A profile on another key team member contributing to our success.

Tarem Services Mobile Foodbank at Portchester Community Hub
Yesterday, despite relentless rain and strong winds, the Portchester Community Hub came alive with a shared purpose – ensuring that no one in need was left behind. Together with volunteers and local partners, we distributed 100 bags of essential food supplies, supporting 200 individuals. Recognising that some were unable to attend, we also prepared 30 additional bags for later collection.
The Power of Partnership
This initiative was made possible thanks to the generous support of CBRE, Zurich UK, and the Portchester Community Hub. Their ongoing collaboration demonstrates the impact of businesses, local organisations, and individuals working together to strengthen communities.

On Thursday, 19th December, Tarem Services Mobile Foodbank continued its mission to tackle food insecurity by participating in an inspiring community event. Hosted by Vineyard English School, Migrant Help, Croydon Voluntary Action (CVA), Blue Sky Consulting, and Good Food Matters, the event took place at CVA in Croydon.
A Day of Connection and Creativity
This heartwarming gathering welcomed refugees and asylum seekers for a day filled with creative activities, a shared meal, and moments of connection that fostered a strong sense of belonging.
Distributing Food Essentials
The Mobile Foodbank distributed 70 festive food essentials bags, made possible by the generous donation from CBRE and Zurich. Each bag contained milk, bread, tea, honey, biscuits, and some treats, supporting at least 2 people. Wrapped gifts donated to CVA added a special festive touch for recipients.
Building on Our Impact with the Foodbank Launch (October 2024)
Since launching the Mobile Foodbank in October, we have supported the communities we serve through 4 food distributions we’ve organised, reaching up to 700 people, including Tarem Services staff. From all of us at Tarem Services, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
This holiday season, Tarem Services Mobile Foodbank is dedicated to ensuring everyone has access to essential resources during this special time. This week, we prepared 30 essential food bags at our Brockley office, providing enough provisions to feed up to 60 people (2 per bag).
The distribution began yesterday and continues today, with one of our dedicated team members delivering these packages directly to staff at different sites. Each bag contains basic pantry staples such as rice, pasta, bread, milk, and cooking oil, along with a few festive treats, thoughtfully presented in Christmas-themed bags to brighten the season.
Working Together to Address Food Insecurity
The Mobile Foodbank is a reflection of our shared commitment to care, kindness, and support during challenging times. By providing essential resources, we aim to alleviate the burden of food insecurity and ensure everyone feels supported, especially during the festive season.
Next week, the Mobile Foodbank will make its final stop of the year in Croydon, continuing its mission to promote well-being and foster community connections.

Today is Social Enterprise Day, and we’re proud to be part of the 1 in 42 UK businesses using this innovative model to benefit people and the planet.
What Is a Social Enterprise Business?
Social enterprises are businesses that trade for a social or environmental purpose. Like any other business, we aim to make a profit, but what sets us apart is how we use it: re-investing the majority to further our vital mission.
Steps Tarem Services Is Taking to Make a Difference
At Tarem Services, our mission is to tackle in-work poverty and promote sustainable practices. Since 1999, we have supported employees with fair wages and profit-sharing while striving to reduce our environmental impact. Over the past three years, we’ve paid out over £23,000 in profit share to our employees and offset 66 tonnes of CO2 emissions through Carbon Footprint Limited
Supporting Communities Through Social Enterprise
As part of the social enterprise community, we like to ‘buy social’ and support others in the sector, so we encourage you to do the same. With the festive season approaching, why not get presents with purpose from Social Enterprise UK’s Gift Guide and eBay shop?
Marking Social Enterprise Day
This Social Enterprise Day, we’re reflecting on the steps we’ve taken over the past year to support employees through initiatives like profit-sharing and shareholding, and to tackle food insecurity through projects such as our Mobile Foodbank. Check out our Social Impact Report to learn more about the progress we’ve made over the past year.
We also join other social enterprises in celebrating the shared journey of using business as a force for positive change.
Why Social Enterprises Matter Now More Than Ever
New research from Social Enterprise UK shows the difference we make, not just in local communities but around the country, often despite complex challenges. Given the crisis in our economy, not to mention our environment and wider society, social enterprise is needed now more than ever – so we’re proud to be part of the movement at such a critical time.
In our commitment to tackling food insecurity, Tarem Services’ Mobile Foodbank is honoured to join FareShare, making us the first social enterprise member. FareShare, with a robust network dedicated to redistributing quality surplus food to frontline charities and community groups, supports those in need.
This membership enables our mobile foodbank to receive surplus food directly from major supermarkets, helping us reach even more communities. With FareShare’s support and our dedicated volunteers, we are strengthening our mission to tackle food insecurity, reduce waste, and promote sustainability.
Thank you to FareShare and to all our volunteers for making this possible. Together, we’re building a brighter, more resilient future.

On Tuesday, 15th October, Tarem Services, in partnership with Wates, continued its impactful Mobile Foodbank initiative with a second distribution, this time at Kilburn Square. This effort represents another step forward in our mission to tackle food insecurity in our communities.
Together, the Tarem Services and Wates teams distributed around 30 bags of essential food items to those in need. Additionally, we prepared 70 more bags for home delivery to local residents who couldn’t attend. This targeted approach allows us to extend our reach, directly addressing food insecurity within Kilburn.
We owe a huge thank you to the volunteers from Wates Group and Tarem Services for their hard work and dedication. Their commitment has made a tangible impact, bringing us closer to our mission of creating sustainable change for communities affected by poverty and limited access to essential resources.
By working together, we’re proving that with the right partnerships, we can tackle food insecurity and uplift those who need it most. Stay tuned as we continue expanding this vital initiative in the communities we serve.

Today, Tarem Services successfully launched its Mobile Foodbank at Selhurst Children’s Centre, overcoming challenging weather conditions. Thanks to the commitment of our volunteers from Zurich UK, CBRE, and the dedication of Tarem Services staff, we distributed 103 essential food bags to families in need. An additional collection was scheduled for those unable to attend due to the weather.
We’re also grateful for the support of Selhurst Children’s Centre staff and the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Lynne Hale, who joined us despite the rain.
This is just the beginning of our mission to tackle in-work poverty and food insecurity.
