Mentors come together to inspire, empower budding young entrepreneurs…

On Thursday 14 July 2022, Volkefitzpatrick hosted an event at their Head office in Hoddesdone, Hertfordshire. Bringing together some potential mentors from Volkerfiztpatrick, Tarem Services and Unitas coupled with participants who signed up for the business workshop programme.

A presentation on insight into the construction sector was delivered by Volkerfitzpatrick Ian Ford (Head of Procurement – Rail & Infrastructure), Jack Starmer (Senior Buyer) and their team. A site tour was also given to the participants, where they had the opportunity to bond with the mentors throughout the event. As well as discussions around their entrepreneurial aspiration – how they could take it to the next level and expressing some interest in apprenticeship.

This event was an integral part of giving the participants the opportunity to really take home some valuable advice from leading experts that would help with their development.

Quote from Volkerfiztpatrick, Jack Starmer – Senior Buyer

“Unitas and Tarem Services have been doing some incredible work helping young people and the least we (VolkerFitzpatrick) could do was host them at our head office. It was a pleasure to meet Bradley, Kyle and Cihat and hear about their aspirations and ideas about the construction industry. They certainly provided a different angle of thought when discussing our current projects and each showed an interest in elements of our business. Hopefully the event has given them the inspiration and confidence to apply for roles within the construction industry – whether that is with ourselves or the numerous other companies out there.”

Torquil Allen, Business Development Director -Tarem Services, said: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank Volkerfiztpatrick for hosting this event and all the mentors involved. Their participation in the business workshop programme truly helps the young ones reach their ambitions through the right support.

It was a wonderful event, and hugely beneficial to the mentees and mentors. Through corporate business and social enterprise collaboration this helps us to reach an entirely different level of creating social impact.”

Tarem Services is working in partnership with Unitas, Barnet Council and Morgan Sindall Construction to deliver ‘How to Set up and Run a Successful Business’ 6-week programme. Aimed to empower youths/young adults to take the steps to succeed in starting their own business.
